Note about calls to the Gambling Help phone service (NSW)

If you call Gambling Help from a landline, the number will not (typically) appear on your telephone bill. This is because it is an untimed call, and suppliers are not required under the Telecommunications Consumer Protections (TCP) Code to provide details of untimed calls on telephone bills. However, a supplier would not be breaching the TCP Code if such calls were itemised on a bill.

If you call Gambling Help from a mobile phone, the number will (typically) appear on your telephone bill. This is because calls to any 1800 number, including G-line, from a mobile phone are typically timed and charged.

Section 6.4.5 of the TCP Code states "A supplier must give the customer itemised call charges for the current billing period, unless the customer otherwise requests or agrees". That is, a customer can choose not to receive a bill at all or to be advised of the total amount payable only. While a Gambling Help caller can request that itemised mobile charges for calls to Gambling Help not appear on his/her bill, a supplier would not be breaching any provision of the TCP Code if they refused to action such a request.
