Hi, I am new to this and I found this site through a need to find people to chat to who have addictions to the pokies. I have developed a spiralling bad habit which is costing myself and my family a lot :( I gamble my money away hoping for that BIG win and sadly it doesn't happen... I am just quitting ever poking money into a hungry machine again it's the worst feeling leaving with absolutely no money $100's of dollars gone in just hours :(

Had the same problem with the pokies. Just last weekend I put over $1000 into them in one night. The day after i realised I had a big problem. I told my fiancé the day after and she was very understanding. She downloaded Allen Carrs easy way to stop gambling. I am only 4 chapters in but from what I have read so far I am confident it will work. He also done a quit smoking book which helped me and many people I know quit. Hope it helps.

Same, pokies was once really bad for me, i used to binge gambling on pokie quite a bit and chasing neverending losses...

It is a thing in the past for me now as I have recovered from pathological gambling.

Theeasyway, I had seen the Allen Carr book! I had even blogged about it, you can visit my blog for more info: http://silvialining.blogspot.com.au/

His book really gave me some helpful insights why the need to gamble, how the brain behaves and how to successfully quit gambling. It's quite some work but it will help to reduce and eventually you can be gambling free. And because i am in the research field, naturally I had included some other insights from reading journal papers that will help us lead a better life too.

Take care all and best wishes! ;)
